Assistant to Small Learning Community Leader - Managerial Tier B (SY18-19)

ASSISTANT to Small Learning Community Leader:

* Student Support in SLCs

* Outreach to students in SLC to support their academic success

* Counseling, mediation and support for students

* Establish and maintain contact with parents/guardians to better ensure success. Engage families as partners in planning, problem solving, and providing assistance.

* Facilitate meetings with parents and students and staff

* Supervise hallways between classes to assure safe and orderly transitions

* Co-construct interventions for students, using best practice in positive behavior interventions and wellness instruction.

* Handle disciplinary infractions, including classroom disturbances, suspension procedures and hearings

* Weekly attendance reviews and outreach to students who are missing classes

* Review of grades twice per term and outreach to students who are not being successful

* Support communication between students and teachers when necessary

* Attend CPT to discuss issues relating to students and student support; assist with preparation and leading of CPTs related to student support

* Maintain records on student interventions through ASPEN system

* Follow through with progressive discipline when necessary in accordance with the Boston Public Schools code of conduct policies

* Establish and maintain contact with parents/guardians to better ensure success. Engage families as partners in planning, problem solving, and provide assistance.

* Support of SLC Leader and SLC Initiatives

* Help plan and conduct SLC field trips and cultural celebrations

* Supervise substitutes in SLCs

* Responsible for SLC when SLC leader is off-site

* Additional support to SLC leader as requested

III. Summer School and Extended Day Support

* Organize and support summer school programming and learning

* Facilitate after school academic interventions
