Position Purpose:

The Director of Employer Strategy is responsible for providing leadership of Saint Alphonsus Health System's (SAHS) employer services by promoting a high degree of engagement with Idaho/Oregon employers, in collaboration with key stakeholders from the health system including the Health Alliance, our clinically integrated network (CIN). This leader is responsible for continuing to develop and drive transformative, healthcare delivery programming to grow the high-performing, value-based network with existing and new employer relationships. This position is also responsible for guiding the development and implementation of direct to market and direct to employer products. This individual is a strong leader with a proven record of relationship building with external and internal customers to achieve organizational success.

Responsible for the development, communication, and successful execution of established objectives (financial and non-financial) within Direct to Employer line(s) of business as articulated through organizational structure and the strategic and tactical plans, as well as division and departmental business plan. Travel in the service area is expected.

Job Description Details:

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Bachelor's degree in Business Healthcare Administration, Marketing or related business field required. Master's degree preferred.

* Experience: 5-7 years in developing, overseeing or interacting with product lines, managed care and/or business development activities, in a large, complex, medical center; 5-7 years of progressive involvement in healthcare-specific strategic planning and business plan development and support; 5-7 years progressive experience in evaluating programs and measuring return on investment or effectiveness on programming; 3-5 years of management experience with activities including strategic communication, working with Senior Leaders to move strategic initiatives forward, as well as motivating, leading and managing successful teams. Experience in Wellness and/or Occupational Health preferred.

* Significant successful experience in analyzing competitive health care environment, and developing and implementing strategic recommendations for improved market share in a dynamic and rapidly changing industry. Detailed knowledge and understanding of healthcare strategy, operations in integrated delivery systems, related healthcare entities and governmental regulations.

* Able to develop and prepare feasibility analyses, executive-level document preparation, forecasting scenarios, system and market strategies, and ability to facilitate group discussion.

* Professional maturity and technical competency/understanding in planning, data analysis, research, finance, marketing and business development.

* Extremely proficient with personal computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).

* Ability to mentor staff and to provide leadership in a team building environment to enhance cooperation with our internal and external customers.

* Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams and in complex matrix relationships.

* Ability to organize and work independently with a high level of motivation and initiative while being entrepreneurial, creative and results oriented and must possess proactive orientation with a willingness to take managed risks.

* Thorough understanding of external, regulatory, payor and other forces impacting health care operations, specifically those impacting employers and the commercial market.

* Keen understanding of current healthcare marketplace including competitors and best practice systems across the nation.

* Current, unrestricted driver's license required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

* Develops assigned aspects of the organizational strategic and tactical plans in concert with established planning processes including the following:

* Development of operating and capital budgets

* Prioritization of program development

* Financial projections and return analysis of potential programs

* Leading the development and execution of a regional growth strategy for the Direct to Employer services

* Analyzing new business opportunities appropriate for increasing the volume and services

* Aggressively developing and implementing a strategy to incorporate new services

* Successfully executes the established plans and the services of the functional areas of responsibility through analysis, measurement and monitoring, reporting, and adjusting the direction, allocation and utilization of available resources.

* Facilitates and manages team performance to the established performance levels by the effective use of Performance Excellence, Human Resources, and Financial skills, techniques, and communications.

* Establishes and maintains positive and productive working relationships with all relevant customers and suppliers, internal and external.

* Oversees the engagement and alignment among employers, to ensure optimal performance of SAHS direct to employer programs and products for the benefit of all key stakeholders.

* Maintains in-depth understanding of SAHS operations/processes and correlates these activities to performance results for the direct to employer programs and products.

* Ensures all employer services objectives are met and/or exceeded in a highly collaborative manner.

* Provides leadership and oversight for the teams providing direct to employer programs and products focused on the development, deployment, management, and evaluation of employer services performance opportunities supporting the organization's strategic plan.

* Accountable for identifying best practices nationally, and leading the deployment to support the organization's improvement toward meeting cost and quality goals.

* Accountable for communication and coordination of employer services initiatives across the system

* Collaborates with key stakeholders in support of the growth of the direct to employer programs and products.

* Establishes department and/or team goals and monitors development and implementation of strategies designed to meet objectives.

* Leads and mentors staff in a positive and constructive manner and proactively plans, creates and participates in staff development activities to enhance technical, analytical and professional skills of the team.

* Participates in intradepartmental, interdepartmental and interdisciplinary committees/projects and provides a positive contribution through open exchange of ideas.
