Job Description Summary

This position monitors the function and maintenance of all forklift equipment to assure its proper operation. Performs maintenance activities to maximize plant production.

Job Description

Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.

This position will perform routine checks and preventive maintenance established by the maintenance lead and Team Leader.

Performs troubleshooting, removal, installation, disassembly, repair and assembly of:

* Chain and Sprocket Drives

* V Belt Drives

* Gear Boxes

* Pumps

* Valves

* Fans

* Hydraulic Pumps, Motors, and Cylinders

* D.C. Electrical Systems

* Differential Drives

* Tires and Wheels

* Break systems

* Bearings

* Drive Motors

Explains function and performs troubleshooting and repair of:

* Electric Forklifts

* Gas Forklifts

* Freezer Doors

* Freezer Storage Racks

* Pallet Lifts

* Batteries

* Dock Levelers

Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

Job Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Three to six months experience maintaining fork lift systems.

One year fork lift mechanic experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write accurate information on simple forms in English. Ability to effectively present or listen to information in one‑on‑one and small group situations with all other employees of the organization in English.

This position requires you to stand, bend, squat, kneel, reach above your shoulders, climb ladders, and crawl in tight, awkward work places for long periods of time. You must be able to carry a 51 pound ladder with assistance and may be required to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
