EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.

Proven experience as an administrative assistant.

(Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education meet the requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu of the above.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, Word and Access).

Experience working with databases.

Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.

Attention to detail and problem solving skills.

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

Transfer data from paper formats into multiple computer database systems.

Verify data by comparing it to source documents.

Update existing data.

Sort, organize and file paperwork after entry.

Answer and direct phone calls, emails and other communications to appropriate staff members.

Assist in preparation of regularly scheduled reports.

Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.

Develop and update administrative systems to make them more efficient.

Other projects and tasks as directed.
