Summary of Work

1. Research, request supporting documentation, and process accounts payable transactions; prepare accounts payable and general ledger journal vouchers.

2. Research accounting issues for division directors and other key staff.

3. Perform deposit and bank account reconciliations, bank transfers, check clearing.

4. Research and prepare monthly reports.

5. Follow agency procedures for processing forms, documents, and other accounting material functions.

6. Purchase card purchasing, coding, and reconciliation.

7. Assist in the office's audit and prepare Consolidated Annual Financial Reporting (CAFR) closing packages.

8. Front desk backup.

9. Perform other accounting and administrative functions as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Completion of an associate's degree with a major in accounting or business administration, and three years of accounting experience. College education with courses in accounting may be substituted for up to two years of the work experience.

2. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in PeopleSoft financial systems.

3. Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage detailed information efficiently and accurately.

4. Demonstrated ability to communicate tactfully and with emphasis on customer service.

5. Excellent prioritization, time management, and organization skills.

6. Ability to establish and maintain effective, harmonious working relationships with co-workers and supervisors.

7. High ethical standards and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

8. Display interpersonal skills in dealing with customers and co-workers, utilize appropriate telephone etiquette, demonstrate appropriate written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrate ability to perform standard office tasks and operate standard office equipment.

9. Successful completion of the interview process, reference checks, and standard background and criminal record checks to determine knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform account technician II tasks.
