Job Description:

At Regions, the Operational Risk Analyst is responsible for general operational risk analyst duties (identification, measurement, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting) and routine assignments under direct supervision. This position may also design and/or develop risk programs or risk models for the Bank.

Primary Responsibilities

* Coordinates with internal and external parties in risk management across various areas including financial reporting, stress testing, controls, policy and procedure documentation, governance and reporting activities, and regulatory compliance

* Maintains necessary training to well informed of regulatory and industry practices

* Works with senior analysts to limit risk exposure including those resulting from human error, transaction, processing failure, external events, threats to information systems, data integrity and fraudulent activities

* Conducts routine assessments of business unit exposures, identifying risks, evaluating their potential impact and reviewing the strengths and weaknesses of the firm's existing controls

* Monitors control compliance and prevalent risk environment to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels

* May assist in developing metrics, models and tools to create and analyze Operational Risk Loss Estimates and other capital planning documentation

* May design, develop, and implement independent reporting and/or financial analysis to assist in the Risk team's oversight role and may design and deliver executive – level presentations

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or business related field

* Three (3) years of experience in risk management, public accounting, or financial industry

Preferences

* Knowledge of Excel and/or statistical/ mathematical software (e.g. Matlab) and Visio

* Knowledge of eGRC (Governance, Risk, Compliance) technologies

* Knowledge of the COSO framework, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, financial statement reporting risk, internal controls, and US GAAP

* Experience with SAS, SQL, PowerBI, or related database reporting software

* Certified Public Accountant (CPA), if responsible for the Sarbanes-Oxley program design

Skills and Competencies

* Knowledge of risk and control self-assessment methodologies, process, and tools

* Knowledge of enterprise and operational risk management framework and principles

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office

* Familiarity with financial and/or non-financial risk management strategies

* Effective interpersonal and organizational skills

* Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills

* Familiarity with remediation and mitigation strategies
