Administrative Intern

This position is required to take the St. John's C.N.A. course and potentially pick up shifts as a C.N.A. which would divert from a Mon-Fri schedule occasionally.


Observes, contributes, and assists in the day-to-day operation of the St. John's Lutheran Ministries Nursing Home, Mission Ridge, The Crossings, and the Cottages in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards governing long-term care facilities.


* Has daily contact with Elders, staff members, volunteers, visitors, and family members.

* Has contact with local and regional medical personnel, government agencies, vendors, etc.

* Serves as an assistant to designated leadership within the organization.

* Maintains an organized work schedule and appointments.

* Drafts and initiates executive level communications as necessary and as assigned.

* Provides support to designated leadership staff within the organization..

* Completes word processing and spreadsheet projects.

* Coordinates special projects, events and meetings as assigned.

* Attends Leadership and Board meetings including as assigned.

* Communicates pertinent information to Administration and Board Members.

* Maintains a high level of confidentiality and integrity.

* Assists in direct office services such as records, finances, budgets, and aid as assigned to designated leadership within the organization.

* Performs other assigned duties per instruction of the designated leadership within the organization.

* Assists in direct office services such as records, finances, budgets, and aid employees as assigned by designated leadership within the organization.

* Answers phone calls, and directs calls to appropriate parties.

* May be assigned to pick up C.N.A. shifts and work as a C.N.A. on occasion.


* Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED, with some college. Prior experience in a human service or health care setting preferred. Must be willing to complete the SJLM CNA Course and obtain certification within 120 days of class completion.

* Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

* Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

* Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

* Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

* Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
