POSITION OVERVIEW

The VP of People & Culture reports to the President/CEO and is a key member of the executive team, contributing as a strategic partner and coach for the organization. This position guides the recruitment and development of talent, resolves complex challenges, supports relationships/relational intelligence and productive collaboration, and designs and implements initiatives, policies and programs that embody the company’s core values. This role champions the values of Love & Accountability by ensuring there is a focus on diversity, inclusion and belonging in all internal policies, processes, and practices. They will partner with leaders and employees to set a high standard for a safe and dynamic culture which exemplifies transparency, respect, accountability, and inclusion.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Organizational Leadership

  • Participates on the executive team and contributes to the broad organizational strategy by providing expertise, perspective, and influence as the company’s people expert
  • Promotes understanding of diversity, inclusion, and belonging while pro-actively implementing policies and equitable practices that work to integrate perspectives and create genuine belonging
  • Builds strong organizational trust and leads people through organizational changes
  • Delivers, in partnership with Quality & Regulatory and Operations, Covid19 training and ensures understanding of policies and individual behaviors that help mitigate the risk
  • Coaches managers and leads organizational design
  • Facilitates internal communications and plans company meetings
  • Promotes culture in industry, partner organizations, and by speaking at conferences

Human Capital Leadership

  • Provides counsel on employee relations, crisis management, internal communication, policy and compliance, performance and progression planning, culture and engagement, and leadership alignment
  • Partners with leaders to ensure business decisions and messaging are aligned with the company’s mission, values, and commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Support Production leaders and responds to specific needs of manufacturing team
  • Facilitates healthy feedback across the organization to support continuous improvement
  • Plans, manages, develops, implements, and evaluates the organization’s People & Culture function; budgeting, recruiting, benefits, systems, payroll, training & development, and employee communication
  • Provides relevant, timely, and balanced guidance and ensures compliance with federal, and state regulations; mitigates risk and partners with outside counsel as necessary
  • Partners with benefit brokers to provide best in class benefits and retirement portfolio
  • Develops and communicates policies and practices
  • Manages employee relations; investigates and resolves conflicts and implements appropriate response

Talent Acquisition & Development

  • Ensures company values are apparent in recruiting, onboarding, and success metrics/reward systems
  • Manages employee compensation and rewards
  • Serves on the Covid19 Committee to help ensure the safety of all staff. Redesigns onboarding that accounts for unique circumstances of Covid19
  • Supports professional development and learning opportunities for employees; delivers training
  • Manages performance management process; provides succession planning for key positions
  • Provides creative ideas to nurture company culture, events, and employee experience

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 10+ years’ experience in People Operations/Human Resources. HR experience in California is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years leading people function; manufacturing experience a plus
  • Minimum 2 years of payroll experience
