We are recruiting for the following position(s):

Position Summary:

Full-time Health Information Manager (HIM) position in Bellingham, WA. Under the direction and leadership of the Health Center Administrator, the Health Information Manager will be responsible for the day to day operations of the HIM Department. The HIM Manager is responsible for ensuring proper departmental staffing, including recruitment, hiring, performance evaluation; staff onboarding and ongoing training; timely completion of scanning and indexing of organization records; timely response to release of information requests, development and/or implementation of quality assurance and quality improvement process to ensure timeliness and accuracy of HIM Department work; ensuring departmental policies and procedures are current with and align with HIM and HIPAA rules and regulations. The Health Information Manager will also provide technical support focusing on improving work flows and overall departmental functioning. The Health Information Manager will stay current with industry standards, in addition to establishing and maintaining the Health Information Management compliance with HIPAA guidelines and timelines. The Health Information Manager will process and maintain medical records (EHR) in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of the healthcare system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Health Information Management) includes but is not limited to the following:

Technical:

The Health Information Manager must have knowledge and of/or training in the state and federal laws governing the disclosure of medical records, and have an excellent working knowledge of EHR. The employee must also have the ability to easily learn new applications and programs, and have good knowledge of the Microsoft Suite.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, the Health Information Manager must have Health Information management and supervisory experience and be knowledgeable about EHR functionality and workflows. Incumbent must have excellent organizational, communication and clerical skills. Must be able to appropriately prioritize and have good analytical and problem solving skills to ensure departmental work is completed in a timely manner. The Health Information Manager must be knowledgeable about and current with HIPAA laws and privacy acts.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with some business training or equivalent job experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years previous experience in health information administration is required.
  • Employee must be able to efficiently utilize necessary office equipment, i.e. computer, fax, copy machine, etc.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
