Legal Secretary – Washington, D.C.

This position provides legal and administrative support to attorneys in various practice areas.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Scheduling appointments, meetings and travel for individuals and teams of attorneys,

  • Complex editing, printing and formatting of legal documents, letters, spreadsheets and presentations.

  • Communicating verbally and in writing with clients, firm personnel and others.

  • General administrative tasks (including expense reports, time entry, billing, phone coverage, calendar management, correspondence and general file maintenance).

  • Researching and obtaining information in order to complete various forms, tasks and processes.

  • Coordinating meeting times and logistics with internal and outside parties.

  • Completing other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must have high level of interpersonal skills and able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.  Speaks clearly, exhibits willingness to assist.  Written communications are clear, concise, well organized and spelling and grammar are error free.

Demonstrates accuracy, attention to detail and monitors own work to set priorities appropriately and ensure quality. Must have demonstrated knowledge of a variety of computer applications in word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and ability to quickly learn and utilize industry specific computer applications.

Effectively schedule and coordinate meeting times, appointments, special events, travel and logistics with internal and outside parties. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands. Readily and easily adapts to changes in the work environment, maintaining flexibility, while consistently projecting a high level of service orientation and professionalism in both internal and client facing situations. Ability to problem solve, identifying problems and works to resolve them in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully and maintains confidentiality. Individual must be dependable consistently arriving at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to direction  to complete tasks without direction, as appropriate.

Experience:

College degree preferred, plus minimum of two years legal and/or administrative experience in a professional services environment. Law firm experience preferred.
