This position is responsible for ensuring that the payroll function operates seamlessly and timely by ensuring employees are paid correctly and timely compiling payroll information by supervising payroll preparation; completing reports; maintaining records, troubleshooting and analyzing technical issues; creating and maintaining scheduled data reports; developing and monitoring dashboards, metrics and data feeds and reporting

Essential job duties include:


* Updates records by reviewing and entering changes in exemptions, insurance updates, deductions, paid-time not worked, status, and pay; tracking the calculation of vacation earned.

* Prepares pay by verifying time records; calculating and producing checks or electronic transfers; verifies bonuses.

* Adds/approves prior period adjustments

* Assists Supervisors with time and approvals

* Exports time and manually imports files not imported automatically into the system.

* Balances payroll accounts by auditing information; identifying and resolving discrepancies; initiating journal entries.

* Processes, posts and closes biweekly payrolls

* Determines payroll liabilities by entering federal and state income and social security tax information, 401k transfer and direct deposits, wage assignments and garnishments.

* Supervises payroll data entry personnel.

* Reconciles benefits selections with deductions.

* Fulfills wage garnishment requirements by completing forms; adjusting payroll records, documenting and transmitting withholdings. Completes VOE requests.

* Remits tax payments by collecting and verifying data; validating federal, state, and local tax reports, and W2 statements; initiating payment.

* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and participating in professional societies.


* Supervises the HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) platform and maintenance of data.

* Develops/creates COGNOS reports as requested.

* Reviews data input and output reporting for accuracy.

* Monitors and improves data collection and reporting procedures for efficiency.


* Supports and participates in the organization's Continual Improvement Program to conform to ISO 9001 requirements by complying with Quality Policies and Procedures and meeting Quality Objectives

* Performs other duties as assigned


* Minimum education: High School diploma or equivalent

* Desired education: Bachelor's degree preferred

* Minimum experience: Five years payroll/HRIS experience, three at a supervisory level

* Preferred experience: 3 years ULTIMATE software experience

* Licenses/certifications: Professional payroll certification through American Payroll Association preferred.
