Position Description

The Department of Social Sciences at The University of South Carolina Beaufort invites applications for a faculty position in Communication Studies. As this is an open rank position teaching assignments will vary based on rank but will include a mix of face-to-face classroom and online delivery. The faculty member will be expected to participate in university, department, and discipline service. This position is a 9-month appointment, commencing on August 16, 2018. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and rank.

The department is seeking candidates with knowledge and experience in television and/or video production, specifically with professional experience television and radio production including, but not limited to, live TV studio production with control room technical experience, single camera remote production, remote television production truck production, and television documentary production experience. The candidate should also have teaching experience incorporating experiential learning opportunities. (We have current partnerships with South Carolina Educational Television, the Beaufort County Channel, the Heritage Golf Tournament and other local media organizations.) SPECIAL NOTE: Depending on the qualifications of the candidate and university need, this position may be a tenure-track position –or— a non-tenure track position for one year with possibility for renewal. Required Education and Experience

The successful candidate will: possess an earned Master's degree or higher by August 2018 in Communication, Broadcasting, Television Production, or closely related field, with special expertise in media production, have prior university teaching experience in the classroom and (preferably) online, and demonstrate evidence of effective teaching, a record of intellectual contributions, and institutional service.
