Job Description

Under direct supervision, provides the mechanics and coordination required to meet scheduled order promises, while complying with and executing company policies and procedures. Depending on site this role Impacts customer deliveries, shop schedules, product costs, and efficiency.

* Initiate work orders with inventory to ensure efficient and low cost production, timely delivery, and maintenance of adequate inventory levels.

* Initiates continuous and effective communications with all levels of inside and outside of the organization on activities that may impact the Master Production Schedule working through the customer service representative where appropriate.

* Monitor currently planned order execution via daily review of appropriate data printouts, and support established dates on all orders.

* Coordinate the supply of materials and subcontract operations to meet production schedules.

* Maintain contact with and update customers through customer service representatives.

* Analyze current inventory for excess and obsolete items and maintain proper inventory levels per policies and procedures.

* Review site capacity to assist with developing short and long term capacity plans, adjusting schedule delivery dates and relative priorities based on work orders.

* Communicate discrepancies found on shipments received from vendors, follow up on causes and distribute the information.

* Monitor and rate supplier performance, using the system to calculate on time delivery vs requested date, on time delivery vs. promised date and on time delivery vs. due date. Summarize and present the results.

* Run reports and inform teams of outcomes. Follow up as needed to ensure understanding and continued improvement.

* Process paperwork and maintain records as required.

* Additional duties as assigned

Position Requirements

* Associate's degree, preferably in a technical field with two years shop floor planning experience.

* Bachelor's Degree in Materials Management or technical field preferred

* MRP II environment experience necessary.

* Strong Microsoft Office skills.

* APICS certification is desirable

* For the McAllen/Pharr, TX location, bilingual English – Spanish necessary.

Physical/Mental Requirements

* Must be able to sit for extend periods of time; a minimum of 2 hours.

* Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the office, shop, warehouse, or manufacturing plant

* Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds.

* Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items while working at assigned desk area.

* Must have the manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment.

* Must be able to simultaneously manage several objectives, changing priorities and reassign priorities to complete assignments.

* Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

* Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.

* Complete all work in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements consistent with supporting the Company's goals.

* Lifting guidelines in accordance with the Manual Lifting Guidelines noted in the Safety Handbook.

* Follow all environmental requirements consistent with supporting the company's environmental performance goals.

* Complete, and actively participate in all other EHS training requirements

Work Environment

Work environment is typically considered within a Smiths location during normal or extended business hours to include offices, manufacturing plants and repair facilities. Work environment may also include customer sites including oil well sites, and meeting venues.

* The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and approved PPE is required when on the factory floor
