Job Overview: Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment.

Reports to: Executive Chef

Essential job functions:

Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.

Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.

Date all food containers and rotate per standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.

Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage.

Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.

Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.

Assist in putting food orders/deliveries in assigned locations.

Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

6 months-1 year experience in kitchen

Must have the ability to communicate in English, can communicate well with guests

Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents and operation of various cleaning equipment

Positive, energetic personality, willingness to learn and commitment to support and advance the image and reputation of the hotel.

Must be able to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Additional Qualifications:

6 months- 1 year experience in kitchen, preferably in hospitality setting

Credits or accredited degree from Culinary institution

Strong interpersonal verbal communication skills

ServSafe Certification

High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands:

Ability to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 100 lbs

Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms over head to perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces

Able to stand for long periods of time, reach above head level, bend, stoop, twist and lift
