The Faculty Senate Administrative Coordinator reports to the President of the LSU Faculty Senate and, supports the full range of activities of the LSU Faculty governance units. Occasional travel to Faculty Senate sponsored events may be required. There will be infrequent activities in support of the scholarly activities of Faculty Senate Executive Committee members.

Job Responsibilities

20% Routine office tasks (work-processing, record-keeping, filing, mailing lists, data records).

30% Basic desktop publishing and design assignments (monthly newsletter, announcements, circulars, flyers). Arranging for distribution of Faculty Senate materials electronically and in print. Developing and managing Faculty Senate website. Maintenance of electronic mailing lists. Editing and preparation of Faculty Senate video and audio files.

30% Assistance with Faculty Senate meeting arrangements and organization for Faculty Senate meetings and other Faculty Senate events, including operation of Faculty Senate video and audio recording equipment during Faculty Senate events. Coordinating meetings among different faculty governance and administration groups, Faculty Senate sponsored seminars and workshops, and training sessions for faculty members.

20% Information tracking and management tasks, including creation of Faculty Senate news, media releases, internal information distribution, legislation indexes, and receipt of media requests.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience in which clerical work was a major responsibility

Special Qualifications

Must have flexible schedule/work hours and the ability to occasionally travel.

Ideal candidates will have competence in or ability to learn office suite software (Microsoft; Corel; Adobe; etc.); experience with or ability to learn software packages for desktop publishing (Publisher, Adobe, PagePlus, etc) and video editing software (Power Director, Camtasia, Final Cut, etc.); developing and managing websites; proficiency in organization skills and written and oral communications; discretion and ability to protect sensitive information; ability to work independently.
