We are hiring a Landscape Architect to work in Baltimore, MD.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a landscape architectural design liaison and/or manager for major, complex, political and/or environmentally sensitive highway design projects.
  • Project design workload includes sustainable landscape plantings, integrated roadside vegetation management, forest mitigation, stream restoration, streetscapes, critical area mitigation, wetland mitigation, park and rides, office and maintenance facilities, and storm water management facilities.
  • Participate as a member of interdisciplinary project teams of civil engineers, traffic engineers, planners, transportation engineers, environmental analysts, architects, and other professionals.
  • Prepare design development to include site plans, planting plans, layout plans, grading plans, construction detailing, and contract documents for advertisement.
  • Review and provide professional landscape architectural guidance and direction to a project team.   Provide expertise to address neighborhood conservation and urban reconstruction design strategies, pedestrian  accessibility for ADA compliance, hiker/biker trails, aesthetic review and approvals for hardscape structural elements, park and ride facility design, public safety, vegetation  analysis and preservation,  reforestation  requirements, landscape plantings, traffic calming techniques, lighting, and other features of the built and natural environment to solve complex transportation design  issues.
  • Coordinate and negotiate project goals and develop context sensitive solutions for highly publicized and politically sensitive projects with comm unity groups, public agencies, and elected officials.
  • Utilize Microstation CADD and GIS software and file sharing technologies.
  • Utilize Projectwise.
  • Attend project milestone meetings and progress meetings.
  • Conduct project site visits to verify field conditions, gather data, coordinate with project team, and to inspect materials.

Qualifications

  • BS in Landscape Architecture
  • Maryland Landscape Architect license
  • 4+ years experience in landscape architecture
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Familiarity with bicycle, pedestrian, and trail design guidelines and best practices
  • Experience with ArcGIS
