Transportation Funding Specialist V

Texas Department of Transportation Austin, TX
Administers state and federal transportation funded programs in a metropolitan district. Oversees contracts/grants/projects/programs/lettings to include: application, approval, procurement, payments, monitoring, audits, investigations, and/or close-out. Serves as a lead worker. Work requires contact with governmental agencies and special interest groups. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.


The essential duties for this job include:

* Oversees and ensures compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures, and standards pertaining to programs.

* Assists with the annual formulation of the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), including verification of compliance with yearly apportionment's.

* Makes presentations, develops speeches, conducts and coordinates meetings, seminars and workshops on applicable programs.

* Performs statistical analyses of data.

* Prepares and analyzes advanced applications and prepares and makes recommendations on program funding; reviews and recommends contracts/grants/projects/programs/lettings.

* Updates and monitors the Design and Construction Information System (DCIS).

* Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

This job requires the following:

* Bachelor's Degree in Transportation or Business Administration.

Work Experience

This job requires the following:

* 5 years in Grant/funding administration, budgeting or working with state or federal funding

* (Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent)

* No supervisory experience required.

* Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications

The following Licenses and Certifications are required for this job:

* Safety Impact Certificate*

* Commercial Driver Certificate*

Safety Impact and Commercial Driver certifications are not required at the time of application. The Safety Impact and Commercial driver certifications will be issued by TxDOT at the time of hire.

Other Conditions:

This is a Safety Impact and Commercial Driver position and will be subject to random drug testing.
