Amazon Business launched in 2015 and reached $1B in its first year, and $15B in 2020. As part this growth, we are starting a new greenfield initiative know as Amazon Catalog. This new initiative will be led by a team of entrepreneurial makers. They will create a seamless experience between B2B buyers and sellers to manage items, prices, and catalogs. As part of Amazon’s efforts to be “Earth’s most customer-centric company” we will enable businesses to configure their Amazon Catalog. This solution will allows businesses to use Amazon as their one stop procurement solution.

While Amazon.com caters to consumers like you and me, Amazon Business aspires to be the preferred choice for all types of business (sole proprietors, small businesses, schools, universities, hospitals, government, enterprises (and everything else). The needs of these business customers are different from those of the traditional Amazon customer, so we are reinventing everything from how we offer our selection, pricing, customer experience, and unparalleled customer service. We have the opportunity to disrupt how businesses buy in this modern age.

You will be part of a new team that owns all aspects of the Amazon Catalog experience; catalog creation, buyer shopping, ordering, payments, accounting, and seller configurations. You will design and build solutions that help buyers create custom catalogs of items and prices. You will join on the ground floor of the project, and work with best-in-class product managers to influence how that catalog management solution will be built. You will get to be customer obsessed about both suppliers and the businesses that buy from them. Your solution will span Amazon’s entire technology stack and be deployed worldwide. What you build will be seen by hundreds of thousands of customers.

We use core AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, S3, Step Functions, etc. in our system. If you like using container technology, this is the team for you. In our user interfaces we use React. For data processing, Python and Scala are our go to tools. Our problem space will cover everything from web development, backend system creation, big data, and machine learning.

Basic Qualifications

· Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

· 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

· 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

Preffered Qualifications

Experience in java based distributed systems, AWS infrastructure automation (CDK, Cloud Formation, Ansible, Terraform, etc.), AWS compute technologies (Lambda, EKS, EC2, etc.) or general experience with cloud computing or container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.). Experience in object oriented modeling and SOLID design principles. Full stack exposure to both client front end technologies (Javascript, React, etc.) and backend in server frameworks (Spring MVC, Apache CXF, etc.) Familiar with Agile software development (Scrum, Kanban, XP).
