Senior DevOps Engineer

Job Purpose

The Senior DevOps Engineer will be part of our Technical Operations Team and be a hands-on technical leader on the DevOps team focused on designing, maintaining, monitoring and operating the Periscope services solution offerings across our business. The DevOps team is focused on providing timely response and resolutions to critical production issues of our SAAS and Dedicated Hosted Enterprise Solutions. The individual should have bring the knowledge and experience to running a 24/7 environment and skills to be able to grow and mentor a team of skilled DevOps and System Adminstration professionals to provide a high level of customer satisfaction use of our solutions. The individual selected to fill this role will have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing design and implementation of our product suite.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Managing a 24/7 production environment, that is a highly-available, SAAS, cloud-based solution

* Automate deployment, monitoring, management and incident response

* Configure highly scalable Linux servers

* Maintain and Scale Linux/Unix environment across multiple Data Centers

* Provide technical guidance and leadership, as well as mentoring to the team

* Maintain the network and security across multiple products

* Monitor system stability, performance and activity across servers, storage, applications and services

* Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues when necessary

* Recommends hardware and software upgrades according to growth statistics and capacity forecasts

* Schedules, plans, and performs system and application upgrades, including coordinating the transition from test to production environments

* Hands on trouble shooting with our Professional Services Team and Support Team for production issues

* Identify scaling and performance bottlenecks and propose solutions

* Work with the Information Security Team to identify security threats and correct any vulnerabilities



* S. degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience

* 7 years of hands on experience working in a Linux Administration or Engineering role

* 2 years in a lead or montoring role

* Working experience with Linux in datacenter and cloud environments AWS or Google Platform

* Experience with Salt Stack

* Involvement with container technology. (Docker, Kubernetes, etc)

* Worked with Git, JIRA and related Atlassian stack. (Confluence, Crucible,etc)

* Experience with CICD frameworks. (Jenkins, Go or other related tools)

* Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MSSQL etc.).

* Experience with logging/application monitoring tools (Nagios, Splunk, Zabbix, etc.)

* Knowledge of systems analysis, software development process and/or functional engineering principles

* Ability to resolve issues independently

* Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks concurrently

* Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills

* Knowledge of fundamental networking principles and operations.

* Able to participate in meetings and work outside normal business hours


* Experience with business intelligence and data analysis a plus

* Strong knowledge of computer and information security principles

* Familiarity working and maintaining a compliance certifiable environment (such as FISMA, FedRamp, SOC, SSAE, etc)

* Understanding of the public sector with local, state, or federal agencies a plus
