Auditor III - Right of Way Division

Performs complex audit work in the Right of Way Division to include audits of financial, administrative, and technical aspects of utility contracts and agreements to determine compliance with Department policies, procedures, directives and relevant laws. Work involves planning, organizing and conducting audits in accordance with professional auditing standards; maintaining, reviewing and preparing confidential information and administering other management-related programs. Work requires contact with departmental executives, managers and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.


The essential duties for this job include:

* Compiles, examines and evaluates information and documentation and prepares findings to determine compliance with Department policies and procedures and relevant local, state and federal laws.

* Conducts audit programs and special investigations of practices and procedures.

* Keeps abreast of changes in policies and procedures, and relevant local, state and federal laws; monitors legislative activities.

* Performs research and analysis on draft policies, procedures, manuals and project documents.

* Performs responsible administrative work.

* Performs special assignments and comprehensive audits; drives or travels as required.

* Plans, organizes and conducts complex audits.

* Prepares final audit reports for submission to Department management.

* Trains staff on procedures, as appropriate; drives to perform this duty.

* Performs other job responsibilities as assigned

This job requires the following:

* Bachelor's Degree

Work Experience

This job requires the following:

* 4 years in Accounting or Auditing-related activities

* (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)

* No Supervisory Experience Required

* Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Current certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Management accountant (CMA) may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
