Overview

The Logistics Support Specialist is a critical, high visibility role within Shorr’s rapidly growing organization. This position is responsible for assisting with the tactical needs within Shorr’s Logistics team. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Tracking shipments, resolving service delays, obtaining proof of deliveries, assisting with the coordination of outbound 3PL shipments, inbound vendor and drop ship shipments, ensuring timely deliveries to meet our customer’s requirements. Must develop a strong understanding of the day-to-day tactical operational activities. This position will also assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates communication between Customer Service, Shorr’s 3PL warehouses, Vendors and Carriers to support a high level of logistical service
  • Responsible for resolving carrier service issues such as missed pickups and transit delays while communicating with all applicable parties to keep them update on the shipment status
  • Perform daily shipment tracking for strategic customer deliveries to ensure customer expectations are being met
  • Obtain delivery documentation such as proof of deliveries as requested by Shorr customer service
  • Provide insight into how current processes can be improved
  • Assist in the routing and carrier optimization process

Qualifications

High school diploma or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge of logistics, transportation, supply chain and freight coordination a plus

  • Must be available after hours and weekends during peak season (October through December) to monitor shipments and respond to urgent matters

  • Strong relationship building with vendors, customer service and division management

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Strong MS Office skills, good excel skills and a high comfort level with general computer operations

Language Skills:

Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in addition to problem-solving capabilities

Reasoning Ability:

Must utilize independent judgment to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of assignments. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Quick critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
