Performs specialized technical skills and/or diversified clerical duties associated with health information management procedures. Maintains and operates a variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems to collect, classify, store and analyze information. Uses excellent customer service and phone skills to operate front desks within HIMS sections and establishes a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel, other departments within the organization, as well as outside contacts to assure health information is properly completed, disclosed, and maintained.
Associates degree in Health Information Technology or related degree and one year or more of experience in a Health Information management department. Additional years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of minimum education requirement.
