DSM Coating and Resins is looking for a Production Shift Supervisor for its chemical manufacturing site located in Augusta, GA. The Production Shift Supervisor will ensure the shift works in conformity with SOP's, SHE requirements, Quality standards and will produce the agreed volumes.

Shift: 12 hr. shift - rotating shift including days and nights

The role includes these responsibilities:

* Accepting personal responsibility for your own safety and health and that of your colleagues.

* Adhere to, enforce, and coach all SHE rules of plant and site, as well as adhere to, enforce, and coaching of manufacturing SOP's.

* Escalate issues and assist in revision of SOP's

* Providing performance evaluation for his/her direct reports

* Training of staff on existing and new processes

* Communicating with production scheduler to understand and allocate man power to meet production plans

* Carry out the production schedule to meet customer orders

* Communication with all stakeholders on matters of the site

* Participate in supporting work streams (Continuous Improvement, SHE Leadership, Maintenance Gatekeeping)

* Taking accountability for the supervision of all operators on his or her shift and the duties to be completed.

* Oversee staffing of Shipping/Receiving/Bagging during nights and weekends

* Entry into SAP for completed batches

* Provide hazmat support during emergency responses

Job content

* Ensure handling in accordance with legal & corporate requirements and Manufex work processes regarding SHE and good housekeeping, resulting in no incidents and continuousimprovement of SHE results.

* Responsible for a safe and healthy working environment, adequate SHE performance and continuous aiming for SHE awareness.

* Execution of SHE audits according to the annual planning

* Lead, organize and supervise the quality, flexibility and exchangeability of the team on the different working places, in order to meet planned quantities to be produced by the shift.

* Participate in the daily production meetings and report losses of hours which have a capacity impact, deviations which have a SHE, quality or yield impact.

* Maintain KOP (key operating parameters) in the operating window as defined in the SOP's.

* Give a preliminary diagnosis for causes of KOP deviations.

* Ensure efficient and effective verbal and written handover of the shift and ensure that all relevant production issues have been brought to the attention of the next shift Supervisor.

* Check the information that is written by the operators in the Asset Utilization database and perform initial gatekeeping

* Report to management in case of deviation/unsafe situation that can't be turned to normal situation.

* Support the introduction of new products. Contribute pro-active to the continuous improvement of processes, working environment and standards, based on theoretical and practical knowledge of the processes and equipment.

* Coordinate activities executed by contractors and assure compliance with all relevant requirements.

* Manage training of new operators on the working place

* Participate in and make proposals for the change of SOP's and protocols

* Report breakdowns to the maintenance and production manager with a comprehensive description and preliminary fault diagnosis.

* Sign and authorize maintenance work permits and communicate related maintenance activities to shift members.

* Is aware and has access to the SIL classification of his plant and to the MOC files which have an impact on his plant.

* Authorize and sign the overriding of equipment depending on its SIL level and according to the SIL procedure.

* Ensure that shift members execute 1st level of maintenance in accordance to the approved fix it yourself list and that these tasks are reported in the appropriate manner.

* Responsible for process and product administration.

* Responsible for his staff to practice HR structures and systems, in line with DSM and HR guidelines and systems, and manage, coach and motivate his or her employees, in order to guarantee.

* a motivated, trained and committed workforce that meets current and future requirements in terms of quality, quantity and people development.

Background and Experience

Prior manufacturing experience is required (at least 5 years) and supervisory experience preferred. Candidate should be comfortable working within computer databases, be able to balance multiple job responsibilities, work safely and with good housekeeping. Troubleshooting experience is a plus.
