Job Summary

The role of the Quality Team Leader is to lead a team in developing and executing the quality management strategy for Volkswagen Group of America's (VWGoA) network of service parts distribution centers. This position is also responsible for ensuring VWGoA's compliance with all core quality assurance requirements established for Volkswagen Group Global Master Depot locations.

Responsibilities of the Service Parts Quality team include:

* Identification, containment and resolution of part quality concerns

* Supplier performance management for VWGoA's North American suppliers (e.g. quarterly scorecard, supplier corrective actions and regressions).

* Vendor claim processing

* Warehouse quality reporting

* Auditing of warehouse process quality

* Fulfilment of Volkswagen Group process audit requirements

* Administration of the Production Part Approval (PPAP) process for non-series identical service parts

To achieve the outlined objectives, the Service Parts Quality team must partner cross-functionally with Purchasing, Procurement, Warehouse Operations, VW Group Quality and Purchased Parts Quality Assurance.

Job Responsibilities

* Leadership – 50%

* Clearly define and continually manage expectations with team members and other process stakeholders

* Delegate appropriate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel

* Foster a high-performance culture through the administration of a structured employee goal development and strategic alignment process

* Regularly communicate team and organizational strategy/objectives to ensure that employee are well informed and to enhance employee engagement

* Help business users accept change by communication and leading by example

* Provide regular coaching and performance feedback

* Enhance employee performance and skill development through formalized employee development plans

* Keep management informed by providing regular business updates (written and/or verbal)

* Represent Parts Logistics in various cross-functional and regional meetings (e.g. NAR KTL, Local Parts Councils, etc.)

* Support continuous improvement efforts of the business by researching and initiating new process and systems enhancements

* Strategy – 20%

* Incorporate the continuously changing Parts Logistics and VW Group priorities into a comprehensive strategy for the Service Parts Quality team

* Ensure that team headcount structure is best aligned to support strategic objectives

* Ensure that short-term operational objectives within the Service Part Quality team are aligned with long-term strategic objectives

* Develop and support the implementation of systems, processes and methods to help the organization and team meet or exceed critical targets

* Oversight of SLA (Service Level Agreement) between Chattanooga SQE (Supplier Quality Engineering) and VWGoA Parts Logistics:

* Responsible for ensuring part approvals and proper note status for sale of genuine parts in the US/Global markets

* Supplier non-conformance corrective action process (KPM Halle – Group system for recording quality complaints)

* Launch support and tracking of AWEs and part supersessions

* Operational – 30%

* Audit responsibilities (9 US depots)

* Calibration

* LoPA (Logistics Process Audit – Certification and internal auditing)

* Implementation and oversight of Quality Management System for US market - ISO 9001

* Process Quality

* Develop and maintain a comprehensive suite of warehouse quality reports that allow corporate and warehouse personnel to easily identify and address negative trends in warehouse quality performance

* Support network quality targets by working collaboratively with Parts Logistics stakeholders on continuous improvement initiatives

* Develop annual warehouse audit plans to include both group and internal requirements

* Part Quality

* Implement all core VW Group quality assurance requirements to ensure that parts are delivered in an approved quality condition which minimizes customer complaints

* Implementation of Group Quality Standards:

* Commodity standards (sheet metal, glass, decorative trim, wheels, etc.)

* Master depot Special Notice Process

* Core Function Verification process adherence

* Utilize feedback from multiple sources (Dealers, Export Customers, Suppliers, Third Party Packager and other Service Providers) to identify potential service parts quality concerns

* Initiate internal stock check processes to contain quality spills with the minimum possible impact to the VWGoA distribution network

* Assist suppliers in structured problem solving to identify the root cause of quality concerns and validate the implementation of countermeasures to prevent re-occurrence

* Initiate the applicable supplier claims and regressions processes to ensure that VWGoA receives the maximum financial recovery for supplier quality concern

* Supplier Performance Management

* Publish a quarterly supplier scorecard for VWGoA's North American suppliers which measures delivery, quality, EDI and customer service performance

* Issue Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs) as necessary to assist suppliers with the correction of performance failures and to minimize the operational impacts to VWGoA

* Utilize the appropriate supplier escalation channels to address suppliers who are unwilling/unable to implement effective countermeasures as a result of the SCAR process

* Initiate supplier financial penalties if corrective actions and escalation measures prove to be ineffective in their ability to improve supplier performance

* Standardization

* Establish / optimize standard operating procedures that accommodate all Parts Logistics process requirements

* Create / update all training documentation for each functional position with the Service Parts Quality Team

* GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance):

* Responsible Lead in Parts to identify, quantify and report all Parts Logistics risks

* Senior Leadership level coordination and communication (Parts/GRC)

* Populate and maintain corporate database repository with all relevant information

Required Years of Experience

* 5 - 7 years

Required Education

* Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience (Purchasing, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business or Engineering)
