Cockpit Systems Cost Engineer

The Interior Systems Cost Engineer is responsible for establishing technical cost for cockpit floor consoles (injection-molded components, decorative treatments) throughout program life (i.e. establishing piece cost targets, negotiation support for new business placement, and cost analysis for design changes). Working from BOM, drawings and/or samples the individual must be able to develop technical cost for console components and systems using historical data, directional cost models, and ultimately activity based costing methodologies. The Engineer provides subject matter expertise (cost and process) to support engineering and purchasing at working levels and to senior leadership. He/she must have the ability to analyze supplier quotes and reach agreement on appropriate piece cost (and tooling cost with the support of the tooling analyst) using activity based costing. The Engineer must have understanding of elements of piece cost and investment for various manufacturing processing typical for the production of assigned commodities.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business

* 5 or more years of experience working in an automotive environment (either OEM or supplier)

* 2 or more years of experience working directly with interior systems

* Strong negotiation, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills required

* Must be detail oriented and highly organized to manage many programs and cost details simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science in Business or Engineering, or MBA from an ABET accredited university

* 2 years of experience with activity based costing and/or quoting

* Experience with automotive interiors, namely cockpit

* Understanding of production implementation and processes for interior components
