Strategic Business Development Manager

The Strategic BusinessDevelopment Manager sales position solicits, sells, implements and expands relationships at the high end of the market (Fortune 500/1000 companies) and qualifies potential new opportunities in a georgraphic region. Typically, these customers have multiple locations, which could be found across multiple districts or regions.

This position requires a strong business acumen that allows for strategic positioning of the Office Depot suite of products and services offered. The individual should possess a thorough understanding of P&L modeling as well as the ability to navigate through complex selling processes and situations. A history of selling into C-Suite executive level is a plus.

* Engaged in sales activities outside of the office, face-to-face, including, butnot limited to, creating relationships with decision influencers, decisionmakers, end users, current buyers and new prospects within an organizationto develop a clear, complete understanding of their business issues andneeds. Sales activities include selling programs to non-participating membersof assigned customers. The Manager, Strategic Bus. Dev will have a definedannual sales quota as outlined in the Incentive Compensation Plan.

* Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs,while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel.

* This role requires the individual to understand the needs of the customerand be able to develop, and present, a solution that is customized to andaddresses the situation.

* Establishes productive, professional relationships with C-level executives inassigned customer accounts. Coordinates the involvement of companypersonnel, including support, service, and management resources, in order tomeet account performance objectives and customers' expectations.

* Manage complex pricing strategies and buying processes that will ensurerevenue growth and product mix that will enhance profitability (i.e. pricing,delivery fee, solutions, etc.)


* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

* Minimum 7 years outside sales experience in a related field

Other Information:

* Thorough functional knowledge of e-commerce and electronic billing system capabilities, both Office Depot and third party's software, and working experience with the conversion/integration of systems.

* Analytical ability with strategic planning and decision making skills.

* Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.

* Strong sales skills.

* Experience in implementing and maintaining large accounts.

* An understanding of the customer relationship process, buying cycle and a demonstrated record of mid to senior level customer contacts.

* A thorough grasp of professional and consultative selling skills to include a history of successful contract negotiations.

* Develop a thorough functional knowledge of Office DepotInformation Systems. Functional Salesforce knowledge is required.

* Independent and self-motivated.

* Must have a desire to develop and in-depth understanding and knowledge of the products and services offered by Office Depot

* Ability to work in a matrixed organization.

* Flexible with respect to change initiatives.

* Ability to develop a professional relationship and exert this influence for a favorable decision.
