Medical Assistant

This position is Monday-Friday (8 hours on Monday and 7 hours Tuesday-Friday).

36 hours per week.

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the MA is expected to independently carry out all duties in an ethical manner, ensuring on-going patient safety, privacy, dignity and confidentiality. The MA will effectively communicate telephonically with patients and caregivers as well as with Registered Nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers. The MA in the Call Center will process prescription refill requests, manage documents and medical records, perform prior authorization when needed, as well as communicate professionally with all team members. This role requires the ability to multi-task and the MA must have an attention to detail and be highly organized. This position is Monday-Friday (8 hours on Monday and 7 hours Tuesday-Friday).

36 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. / Certified Medical Assistant diploma/degree

Experience: One (1) year hospital or long term care experience preferred.

Certification: Certified Medical Assistant/ PCT

Technical Knowledge: Basic computer skills. Knowledge of routine office equipment such as fax and copier.

Work Environment: Call Center environment (administrative/telephonic)

Contact Group: Patients, patient family members, visitors, physicians, co-workers

Supervised By: Registered Nurse, Outpatient Manager
