Donor Research Analyst

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Donor Research Analyst is a contract consultant responsible for providing comprehensive research using publicly accessible and proprietary information to Mission Engagement – Development, with specific focus on major gifts prospects for nine priority funds of The Advance (listed below). Provides data segmentation for the direct mail and digital campaigns. Develops in-depth research profiles on the financial capacity of individual donors, and analysis of trends found in the donor base at-large identifying opportunities for increased donor investment through customized cultivation strategies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Conducts focused research and evaluation of financial capabilities of new prospects and existing donors

* Work with confidential and publicly accessible information, with a view of assessing donor viability. Make wealth estimations using demographic information working in partnership with senior staff and fundraisers to develop donor engagement strategies

* Ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize complex information into a coherent and accurate presentation.

* Participate in monthly development team meetings; ongoing consultation with Director of Development

* Ability to use sound judgement and apply ethical considerations with confidential information. Ability to think creatively with resources available.

* Keep abreast of key list donors in the news, philanthropic trends, and GBGM current events and fundraising priorities

* Maintain key list donor saturation report for executive staff and development officers

Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree

Preferred Education:

Bachelor degrees in Accounting

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Strong analytical, written and verbal communications skills. Familiarity with relational databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and experience with research database such as Dun and Bradstreet, Hoover's, and Lexis- Nexis. Fluency in one or more foreign languages preferred. Mastery of international research sources, as well as knowledge of international wealth.
