Associate Recreation Therapy Manager

Provides consistent internal and external leadership and support to staff, patients, families, and other customers. Demonstrates responsibility for ongoing leadership, development and evaluation of the Recreation Therapy (Rec T) Program. Supervises and monitors CTRS line staff in inpatient ABI and across the SCI continuum, RecTherapy techs within the inpatient/post acute clinical operations, community reintegration outings, and the assigned inpatient special events. Collaborates with the rec therapy manager and therapy managers to ensure the functions of the Rec Therapy Program are within the scope of Shepherd Centers mission including policies and procedures. Responsible for other projects pertaining to the Shepherd Center as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) from accredited program in therapeutic recreation, healthcare, or other related field.

Experience: Minimum of Two years of management experience preferred. Five years experience in rehab required.

Licensure: N/A

Certification: Certification by NCTRC as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist preferred. CPR certification required (provided by SC).

Technical Knowledge: Advanced management in appropriate utilization of human and fiscal resources. Ability to delegate tasks effectively and supervise employees through direct reports. Demonstrates ability to manage patients with a spinal cord injury, brain injury, or other neurodiagnoses to adequately train and mentor staff. Basic research skills are recommended to contribute to program through mentoring, presentations and/or principle or contributing investigator. Good verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail necessary.

Supervises: Oversees supervision of the inpatient/ post-acute SCI/ABI CTRS staff and Rec Therapy Techs.

Supervised By: Rec Therapy Manager

Other: Membership and active participation in professional organization preferred. Current Georgia driver's license and insurable by SCs auto insurance policy preferred. Physical ability to perform job requirements.

Primary tasks for the Associate Recreation Manager position:

* Provides leadership to the program

* Assists and supports the Rec Therapy Manager

* Supervises CTRS within ABI/SCI continuum except for the 3 lead positions and ABI post acute programs (Pathways and Share Programs)

* Supervises the 3 Rec Therapy tech positions.

* To complete the following for the staff supervised by the position:

* Hire process

* Kronos (time off, flex days, holiday needs, and schedules)

* Round with staff

* Schedule PRN as appropriate

* Chart audits

* Annual comps documentation

* Yearly goal development

* Approve any EDU opportunities for staff

* Check the daily Call in Line (Rec Therapy Manager can be back up)

* Coverage support across programs

* Be educated on overall Rec Therapy Program budget

* Responsible for budget within the areas managed

* Attend all staff meetings from SCI and ABI inpt programs monthly

* Attend all program director meetings monthly

* Attend quarterly Shepherd Center management meetings

* Responsible for assigned inhouse programming not lead by specialists (ex. Casino Night)

* Support the Rec Therapy Doc committee

* Responsible for updating all inpt education classes with staff and manager.

* Lead ABI Holiday Committee within the inpt ABI Program

* Co-lead yearly Rec Therapy Calendar with Rec Therapy Manager (classes/events/weekends)

* Lead or Co-lead any projects or tasks implemented within the different programs with Rec Therapy Manager (depending on task)

* Responsible for being involved with the High Tetra Committee on SCI inpt
