Technology Systems Specialist

Position Objective: This position is located in the Technology and Continuing Training office ay federal client site. This position supports the Online and Emerging Technologies portfolio supervised by the TCT/Emerging Technologies Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* SLS SharePoint Site Collections Administrator: Expected to independently establish and maintain over one hundred SharePoint sites and content, including authorizing user permissions, for all SLS users on Open Net, FSI Net, and the DMZ. The incumbent works with Corporate Systems to resolve SharePoint issues requiring higher level action. Incumbent currently maintains the SLS SharePoint Time and Attendance site used to track and verify staff work hours. This position holder works with sections to develop customized SharePoint content and maintains the Photo Book and Tech Portal.

* SLS websites Development and Management: Incumbent is responsible for creating and managing division, unit, and section websites for all SLS users. Management includes coordinating SLS updates and training new staff members on how to update and maintain sections' webistes.

* eHomerooms: The incumbent creates and maintains up to 70 language section eHomerooms, and is responsible for training all staff on how to use the internet –based resource, including staff identified for creating and maintaining learning materials made available to students. As necessary, training is extended to students. The position holder works with staff throughout the school, the Registrar's office, and Corporate Systems to provide requisite user access. The Incumbent will also work with EX/CS to coordinate updates to functionality and interface that affect SLS eHomerooms, and share that information with division Educational Technology Coordinators (classroom eHomerooms) and the Distance Language Learning (DLL) team. Also advises sections on organizing and posting materials to eHomerooms.

* Foreign Affairs Network: Incumbent is the primary point of contact for new instructor and student accounts and assists with Google applications as requested by users. Liaises with IRM and FSI/EX/IRM to maintain user accounts.

* Learning Management System (LMS): Is one of two SLS representatives to FSI's LMS working group. The incumbent is expected to facilitate the school's transition to expanded functionality of the existing system or migration of materials to a new system and support all required training.

* Content Management: Coordinates with OMIS on permission levels for staff folders.

* Software tracking: Maintains a list of frequently-used software in SLS and coordinates the quarterly software acquisition process across the five language divisions and with OMIS and SLS/Admin.

* Copyright: Incumbent is the office primary point of contact for copyright requests and information, working in coordination with CSSD and the Information Resource Center.

* SMART panels and Notebook: Working with AV, OMIS, and relevant points of contact in the language divisions and sections, the incumbent manages the deployment of SMART hardware and software packages for the school, ensuring that all information technology elements are harmonized for seamless use in the classroom.

* Technology-enabled Instruction (T-eI): Incumbent works with the SLS Educational Technology Coordinator to manage and track iPads and laptops used for T-eI and software/applications. Working with the OMIS and/or FSI/IRM points of contact and relevant program managers, ensures compliance with FIS and SLS policies and procedures.

* Primary Point of Contact for Audio Visual needs: The position holder coordinates and manages, in collaboration with FSI/IRM/AV, webinars, video production, sound systems and other elements of FSI/IRM/AV's toolkit on behalf of SLS staff members. Coordination includes updating the SLS Orientation video.

* Stock Photograph Resource manager: Manages the daily upload of requested photos and maintains the banks of downloaded photos for the school.

* Webinar coordinator: With appropriate colleagues in OMIS and AV, the incumbent facilitates the development and production of SLS staff members' webinars.

* Innovation Lab and eBooks: As directed, the incumbent liaises with the Innovation Lab staff to manage SLS interests and similarly with support of producing digitized learning resources.

* Maintain a close and highly responsive relationship to the day-to-day activities of the office supervisor and staff.

* Use greater judgment and initiative to determine the approach or action to take in non-routine situations, interprets and adapts guidelines, including unwritten policies, precedents, and practices, which are not always completely applicable to changing situations.

* Work independently receiving a minimum of detailed supervision and guidance.

* Handles differing situations, problems, and deviations in the work of the office according to the office supervisor's general instructions, priorities, duties, policies, and program goals.

* Other duties as assigned, including one-off projects in support of the Department and other technological initiatives.

Basic Qualifications:

* Secret clearance

* High School Diploma

* Three years of experience in a related field

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree highly preferred

* SharePoint experience strongly desired

* Work experience in an educational or training institute, highly desired

* Skills or experience relevant to the particular training division, preferred

* Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team

* Strong organizational skills and the ability to meets deadlines

* Strong customer service skills

* Effective oral and written communication skills

* Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural setting

* Ability to manipulate information in existing databases

* Familiar with or the ability to learn survey research software, databases and reference materials to collect information

* Ability to follow technical direction as delivered by the government technical monitor and/or government staff members

* Experience using Microsoft Office suite of programs
