Job summary

Global Talent Management and Compensation (GTMC) owns a suite of products which help drive career development for hundreds of thousands of Amazonians globally. GTM Analytics - utilizes a wide array of data sources to conduct analytics and create predictive models and tools that fuel recommendations, actions, and insights within the software systems that support Amazonians throughout their employee journeys. The team itself is composed of scientists and engineers with diverse backgrounds and expertise, coming together to create innovative solutions to the problems faced by the one of the world’s largest and fastest growing workforces. This role will support the Talent and Diversity Analytics team. Your responsibilities will be broadly inter-disciplinary. This role will involve generating descriptive statistics, building predictive models, designing data analytic and visualization tools, deriving insights with regression techniques, forecasting and more. You’ll have the chance to develop many of these skills as you work along side experts in a variety of data science disciplines to generate insights to help Amazonians achieve their career goals. You will do this by building statistical models, using world class data systems, and directly statistical methods to solving business problems in a fast moving environment. You’ll work with other Scientists at Amazon developing new techniques, processing large data sets, addressing quantitative problems, and contributing to the design of automated systems around the company. Key job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: • Build and operationalize econometric and statistical models • Conduct analysis utilizing techniques in causal inference like, difference in differences, propensity score matching, and experimental design • Work collaboratively with economists and research scientists to assist in the design and implementation of analysis to answer challenging HR questions • Interpret and communicate results to senior leadership • Aggregate and analyze data pulled from disparate sources (HR, Finance or other business systems) and related industry and external benchmarks; provide insights and a point of view on analysis and recommendations • Assist in the design and delivery of automated, scalable analytical models to stakeholders • Report results in a manner which is both statistically rigorous and compellingly relevant

Basic Qualifications

Masters in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, or other quantitative discipline · 3+ years post PhD experience in conducting research . Must have experience in Python, Stata, and/or R. · Ability to distill informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives · Experience with experimental design in complex business settings, measuring lagged effects · Superior verbal and written communication skills, ability to convey rigorous mathematical concepts and considerations to non-experts. . Must have the ability to communicate relevant scientific insights from data to senior business leaders., GTM Science Analytics Team
