Our Network Operations team works around the clock running United’s global operation, safely, reliably and efficiently. From dispatching and routing our fleet to coordinating with maintenance line planning and crew scheduling, this team makes caring connections with our internal customers and ultimately, United’s customers. From pushback to landing, the Network Operations team is the eyes and ears on the ground no matter where in the world your United flight takes you.

Key Responsibilities:

The Sr. Manager – NOC tactical Communication is a high-level communications and operational expert, who will lead the newly formed NOC Bridge Communication Manager team. This role will be the overall voice of the NOC for all real-time operations. This leader will be responsible for the vision, tool development and integration, process standardization, training, development and guidance, as well as critical issue needs within the team. The senior NOC leader will ensure direction from the VP and MD’s and ensure a continuous improvement process is in place for all operational communications that go out to the rest of the company.

  • Manage a team of 6 communications professionals. Hire, train, provide critical issue support and schedule the team to maintain a 24/7 schedule, including occasional on desk coverage of the Manager role on the bridge
  • Establish and train the NOC Bridge Comms managers to ensure standard, accurate and timely protocols, tools and communication standards are in use. Receive and incorporate feedback from all stakeholders to ensure a continuous improvement process is in place
  • Collaborate with senior operations leaders internal and external to the NOC, develop long term communication strategies and processes for real-time operational events, to ensure broad company visibility and awareness
  • In partnership with DT, develop and align to improvements in tools and content delivery opportunities within the communication industry, to ensure we maintain innovative, real-time information support to all operational groups.
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the MD – NOC Daily Ops, or NOC VP

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Aviation, Business, communications, journalism
  • 5 years in an airline or communication leadership role
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of airline operations.
  • Ability to build and manage a team from scratch, establish sustainable roles and processes
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across a broad range of cross-divisional teams
  • Ability to work under high-stress, complex and changing operational environment
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and quickly translate operational events into targeted communications
  • Critical thinking and the ability to quickly evaluate and translate operational situations and provide communication updates on-demand
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products (Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Must be able to work all shifts and holidays as required
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
