Position Summary:

The newly created, Workforce Development Specialist, position works with the Workforce Development Manager, to support inclusive workforce development and people programming, that enhances company diversity, equity and inclusion (“DEI”) strategies. This position collaborates closely with workforce development and talent acquisition stakeholders across HR to support improvement opportunities and to ensure best practices in workforce development across the organization and within surrounding communities in which we operate.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Live, breathe, and uphold the spirit of the Community Benefits Framework (“CBF”) and the DEI programs across the organization
  • Support the administration and oversight of employment plans
  • Monitor commitments and compliance within New Flyer’s CBF, including related initiatives, implementation, and reporting.
  • Lead activities around training, development, and sourcing ideas to engage target communities in partnership with Talent Acquisition/HR teams and Workforce Development
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition Team to meet hiring targets set by regional workforce development plans
  • Report and analyze diversity statistics across NFI and in support of regional workforce development plans
  • Support completion of NFI DEI Strategic Framework & DEI Survey Action Plan activities which will support the development of new programs and processes to enhance, promote and support DEI
  • Liaise with Workforce Development team on affirmative action, equal opportunity, and related information requests about NFI compliance associated with [customer] public bids / monitoring processes and ESG reporting.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Background in Human Resources with a focus on Organizational Development
  • Strong emotional intelligence, with ability to connect and communicate with individuals of varying backgrounds, job positions, cultures, and communicative preferences
  • Experience supporting DEI initiatives including training, developing, and sourcing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with ability to multitask
  • Strong computer, data analytics and reporting skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and possess initiative to seek improvements
  • Motivated self-starter with capabilities to work within a fast-paced team oriented environment
