Our Fortune 500 Aerospace Client is seeking a Technical Writer/Training Specialist to join their located in Annapolis, Maryland.
The successful candidate will:
-Develop a working knowledge of Clients’ products and services in the Rail and Security markets.
-Develop, update, and review technical system documentation, for example end user manuals, system administration manuals, and software programmer reference manuals.
-Manage document storage and revision.
-Conduct system training at customer sites.
-Develop training syllabus and training materials; work with engineering staff to develop course content.
-Experience with Atlassian tool suite for defect tracking.
-Have a solid knowledge of technical writing standards, documentation process, and software engineering process.
-Must include: Microsoft Office Suite experience. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite is a must for this position.
-MadCap Flare, Microsoft SharePoint preferred but not required.
-Familiarity with Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe RoboHelp, IBM Rational DOORS, Virtual Machines, Linux Operating Systems are preferred, but not required.
Local Candidates Preferred. Candidates will need to go onsite on an as needed basis.
Typical Travel - To customer sites for system application training - only if they are on those specific projects. Most likely will be a few days a year.
Candidate selected must be capable of passing nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain unescorted clearance to a nuclear power plant.
-3-5 years of experience as a technical writer and trainer on large, complex, integrated systems.
-3-5 years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite
-Experience developing software documentation manuals.
-Experience preparing training material, conducting courses and creating computer based training.
-Familiarity with MadCap Flare and SharePoint is preferred but not required.
-IBM Rational DOORS experience is preferred but not required.
-Experience with Jira, Confluence, Atlassian tool suite preferred.
-Familiarity with Camtasia and/or Adobe Captivate is preferred but not required.
Education and Certification Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree in Communications, Information Technology, or other technical area.
-Certifications for computer based training software tools.
