TheKitchen Helper position is responsible for maintaining sanitation standards,performing a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, andserving duties in a commercial kitchen, storeroom, dinning, and servingarea\. All duties are to be performed inaccordance with NMS’ mission, vision, and values as well as departmentalpolicies, practices, and procedures\.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

+ Assistscooks and others as needed and coordinates activities within a food servicearea

+ Preparefood and cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc\.

+ Maintainsa variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storageareas including service machines

+ Stocksvarious food service areas with various products and materials

+ Cleansdishes, utensils, pots, pans etc\. and places in assigned storage areas in anorganized and orderly manner

+ Washesobjects by hand or with cleaning equipment

+ Cleans,sweeps, wipes down, etc\. all general dining, kitchen, or storage areas \(in somecases\) and equipment as well as all floors

+ Assistswith various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects\.

+ Removesgarbage from assigned areas

+ Setsup, breaks down, and cleans tables, snack bars, display cases, serving lines,etc\.

+ Mayoccasionally prepare food or cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats,etc

+ Notifysupervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met\.

+ Thisposition has no supervisory responsibilities\.

+ Otherduties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also beassigned\.


Minimum Requirements

+ High school or GED equivalent

+ Alaska Food Worker Card or ServSafe

+ At least one \(1\) year of work experience in a commercial kitchen or documented vocational training sufficient to demonstrate a knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment, restaurant food preparation, and general commercial cleaning processes\.

+ Must be able to work 8\-12 hour shifts for extended periods of time\.

+ Must pass all pre\-employment contract requirements which may include but are not limited to: hair follicle drug test, background check, physical and fit for duty assessment and hearing test\.

+ Contract requires employees to read, write, speak and understand English\.

+ Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client\.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather:Indoor/Outdoor\. Frequently exposed toarctic conditions\.

Noiselevel: Moderate to Loud

Descriptionof environment: This is an industrial kitchen and catering environment\.

Mustconstantly be able to stand, sit, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop,kneel and crouch\.

Travel: Must be able to travel by plane and/or bus toremote camps\.

Physicalrequirements: FCE\. Must be able to liftand move up to 50lbs\.
