CERTIFICATED PERSONNEL DUTIES TITLE: Psychologist EVALUATED BY: Director of Special Youth Services BASIC FUNCTIONS: The school psychologist reports to and assists the Director of Special Youth Services in providing psychological services to students, to schools, and to the community; provides leadership consultation and projections for particular service for special programs of the District; and performs the following tasks: TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Administer assessment to students referred by Student Intervention Team within mandated timelines determining eligibility for special education programs. 2.Conducts conferences with parents, counselors, teachers and others to supply insight and provide recommendations relative to students. 3.Provides assistance to District and school personnel in situations requiring crisis intervention. 4.Administers preparation of required state special education reports. 5.Reviews and disseminates current information to personnel in areas of specialization. 6. Collaborates with appropriate personnel in providing in-service education for teachers and staff. 7.Serve as consultant in administration of District's special education programs' maintenance and monitoring. 8.Refers and maintains current records of those referrals to outside agencies. 9. Maintains current file on legal updates pertinent to special education. 10. Communicates special education programs to community based organizations. 11. Participates in interview and selection of special education personnel when appropriate. 12.Provides consultation services in maintaining, developing and revising curriculum for special education students by collaborating with special education staff. 13.Collaborates with feeder schools in determining appropriate placement of special education students. 14.Provides direction for Individualized Education Program Teams at assigned schools, ensuring that legal mandates, District policies and Special Youth Service procedures are followed. 15. Prepares and presents recommendations of pertinent cases to the Education Assessment Service (EAS). 16.Chairs Individualized Education Program meetings on a regularly scheduled basis. 17.Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others. 18.Performs other job related duties as required. * Enrollment in a School Psychology Program from an accredited college or university* Completion of coursework in psychoeducational testing, counseling, classroom/behavioral management * Completion or anticipated completion of a Master's Degree* Three current letters of recommendation* Letter of Introduction* Resume* TranscriptsRequirements:* Knowledge of Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTI2)* Experience with Curriculum Based Measurement (CBM) * Experience in completing systematic behavioral observations* Ability to work with school site staff and play a supporting role in the development or maintenance of a school-based RTI2 model to support all learners* Experience conducting psychoeducational evaluations, and writing assessment reports * Experience with Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and willingness to design and implement behavior interventions to increase appropriate target behaviors * Knowledge of how to develop and implement behavior support plans * Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies* Experience consulting with teachers regarding behavior and academic achievement * Strong relationship-building and interpersonal communications skills* Excellent oral and written communication skills* Experience counseling youth and knowledge of crisis counseling
