Security Operations Agent

Under direct supervision of the Airport Operations Coordinator, this position works as part of a team that maintains video and physical surveillance of the airport facilities; receives and processes all calls coming into the Airport Operations Center; dispatches law enforcement and other personnel as needed, and disseminates vital information regarding emergencies and incidents as they are occurring. This position has been deemed as an essential personnel position. Position is subject to twenty-four (24) hour work availability, including shift work, weekends, holidays, emergency calls, inclement weather, and special events. This position is considered weather essential personnel.

* Maintains video and physical surveillance of the airport.

* Operates telecommunications equipment to receive, process and disseminate all calls coming into the Airport Operations Center, as well as dispatching law enforcement and other airport personnel.

* Participates in investigations by pulling video footage of incidents.

* Monitors alarm and security systems; dispatches Airport Police to active alarms.

* Inspects security access doors, windows and gates to ensure security; and reports any irregularities.

* Monitors airport terminal building for operational items such as light out of service, terminal and restroom cleanliness, etc.

* Participate in community events such as career fairs, and field trips.

* Issues and maintains employee badges and maintains employee's criminal history checks.

* Maintains detailed documentation of events, and writes and maintains federal reports and file video documentation.

* Notifies all airport departments of Alerts, Medical Emergencies, and Diversions.

* Monitors security and issues security violations.

* Monitors buildings (i.e., public facilities, rental car areas, and terminal roadways) to ensure airport security is not compromised.

* Answers telephone calls from the public and obtain information from the caller about the location and nature of requests for airport services.

* Pages passengers and staff for messages over the airport paging system.

* Collects fees for lost keys and badges as well as background checks.

* Assists in the dispatching of emergency response units in the event of an aircraft alert or accidents, or incidents on airport property.

* Inputs maintenance request forms.

* Performs Customer Service tasks including, but not limited to, answering phone calls in a courteous and professional manner and providing personal directions and assistance to the public.

* Records the activity of airport personnel in the event of an incident/accident on the department's computer system while dispatching other Airport units.

* Follows City of Amarillo / Airport policies and procedures.

* Attends staff meetings as needed.

* Performs up to 12-hour shifts on weekends, nights and holidays to fulfill staffing requirements.

* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a High school Diploma or its equivalent, FEMA Certificates NIMS 100, 200, and 700 within six months of hire and one year of relatable experience. Prior experience in telecommunications and customer service preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License Required. Must pass airport telecommunication test, a 10-year criminal background check and a drug-alcohol screening. Bilingual preferred. American Association of Airport Executives ACE-Security, ACE-Communications, ACE-Trusted Agent certifications preferred.

* Knowledge of and ability to effectively use a personal computer, radio, and dispatch work station.

* Ability to use standard office equipment such as copiers, scanner, fax machine, printers and multi-line phone systems.

Work Hours:

Must be available to work any shift between 5:30am and 12:00am (midnight). The airport is a 24 hour facility and this position is required to work any shift including nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
