What does a great Z/OS Mainframe Systems Engineer do?

This position is an experienced mainframe Systems Engineer. The associate in this position, under general supervision, will follow standard practices and procedures to analyze, design, build, configure, test, debug, modify and implement z/OS system software to support the applications for our clients. The key objective of this position is to provide our clients with complete, high quality support.

* Configure Communications Server components for the z/OS systems.

* Install, maintain and configure third party software (Connect: Direct, LRS/VPS, etc.).

* Familiar with IBM utilities, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SMPe.

* Coordinate work with Business Units (BUs) and ETG peers.

* Assist Engineering, Operations Support, and Business Units as necessary in troubleshooting issues, including root cause determination.

* Attend and participate in ongoing project meetings as necessary.

* Documentation of work.

Basic qualifications for consideration:

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer related field is preferred or work related experience in lieu of education

Additional Skills/Knowledge:

* Good communications and writing skills – professional interactions with other Fiserv BU's and clients is a must have ability

* Experience with z/OS, OMVS,

* Experience with MS office products

Travel Required:

* 2-5 times per year for disaster recovery drills and team meetings

Work Environment:

* Standard office environment, Telecommuting
