Business Analyst (IAM)

East Coast Hours -Remote

The opportunity

As a member of the Information Security Service Delivery team, the Identity and Access Management Business Analyst role successfully and efficiently drives business process improvement via the methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of all or part of a business in terms of business functions and processes.

This includes:

  • Manage requirements development through elicitation, analysis, specification and verification of multiple levels of requirements (business, stakeholder, solution) and support the ongoing management of the requirements.
  • Create viable and consumable specifications including acceptance criteria in preparation for the construction and testing of IT Security solutions. The role focuses on 5 key areas:
  • Directory Services
  • Multifactor Authentication
  • Federation
  • Identity and Credential Management
  • PKI and Certificate based Services.

Your key responsibilities

Day-to-day, this role will:

  • Develop and maintain a deep contextual understanding of the services areas to which assigned and the underlying business objectives of those service areas
  • Serve the assigned service areas by representing their business objectives when interfacing with the other project team members and by ensuring that their business objectives are a primary component of the delivery
  • Build the foundation for the development effort by capturing the business context - problem, current state, desired future state, objectives, business needs and impacted user groups
  • Develop requirements (business, user and technical requirements functional and non-functional) and establish traceability to the business vision
  • Manage requirements through the project lifecycle by establishing and maintaining agreements between the customer and the project team
  • Play a critical communications role by interacting with user (business domain) and with IT and testing personnel
  • Ensure requirements are specified in a manner suitable for the intended audience and are understandable, unambiguous and capable of being implemented and tested
  • Navigate the IT team and business sponsors through a level of ambiguity including business process change; build organization and structure to requirements to drive out and define detailed requirements efficiently
  • Work with project manager and the business customer(s) to define stakeholder requirements
  • Understand project technology and define how the requirements gathering will be conducted (i.e. elicitation, analysis, specification and validation)
  • Facilitate requirement meetings; demonstrate extensive experience in facilitating sessions (20+ people). Use techniques to define scope and requirements during the lifecycle of the project
  • Write and review business, user and non-functional/system level requirements in the form of Use Cases and similar structured requirements documentation
  • Ensure change control and change management procedures are followed within the project team as they relate to requirements
  • Understand business case and project scope
  • Ensure high quality business analysis standards are met as prescribed by Information Security through the effective implementation or use of approved processes, methodologies and deliverables
  • Document “as is and “to be business process maps

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following core skills:

  • Strong ability to communicate fluently in English and adapt communications to various audiences, including Executives, Sponsors, Management, overall organization and project teams includes verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Breakdown barriers of delivery with well thought out challenges and escalations, if necessary
  • Personal accountability to adhere and comply of all required business analyst deliverables and requirements
  • Ability to collaborate across functional teams, cultures and geographies and to build trust virtually
  • Strong working knowledge or experience with Identity and Access Management
  • Track record of customer focus that is based on openness, trust, and delivering on promises
  • Extensive experience writing and reviewing business, user, and non-functional/system level requirements
  • Highly adept at obtaining alignment and approval of business requirements (functional and supplemental) from user community
  • Extensive experience in selecting and executing elicitation techniques such as Interviews, Exploratory Prototypes, Facilitated Workshops, Focus Groups, Observation, User Task Analysis, Documentation Study and Surveys and overall Process Re-engineering
  • Development and deployment of formal business analysis methods and tools to govern and control programs
  • Solid understanding of the following requirements models: Stakeholder Categories, Actor Tables, Glossary, Context Diagram, Data Model, Class Model, Data Dictionary, Event Response Tables, State Diagrams, Business Rules, Decision Tables, Process Maps, Use Cases, and Activity Diagrams
  • Leader in the use of IT methodologies, processes and standards for business analysis

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Project Management or Business Administration, or equivalent work experience
  • 7 years in a large corporate IT environment
  • 5+ years as a business analyst across various IT disciplines; InfoSec a plus, but also, infrastructure deployment, application development, large RFP's, proofs of concept, etc. 10 to 15 years in a corporate IT environment
  • Other relevant experience in a related technical field (application development, deployment/implementation and infrastructure)
  • Significant work experience IT infrastructure and security projects
  • Flexibility to work outside typical hours, as required of a globally dispersed team
  • Flexibility to travel on a very limited basis

Ideally, you'll also have

  • CBAP certification
  • Familiarity with the IIBA (BABOK) Practice Standards
  • Familiarity with ITIL v2 or 3
  • Experience in supporting a professional services and/or global IT organization
  • An understanding of Information Security tenets and priorities
  • Work experience in a professional services industry, preferred
