Product Engineer

Finisar Allen, TX
Join the team as we build and start manufacturing in our new facility in Sherman, Texas where we will produce vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) used in Apple's iPhone camera to allow features such as Face ID, Animoji and Portrait mode selfies. What are VCSELs? It's an acronym that is pronounced "vixels" – they are small semiconductor devices that emit light vertically and enable 3D sensing.

Take ownership of production yields of Finisar's commercial VCSELs

Establish and maintain incoming material targets and processing targets to ensure conformance to product specifications and to maximize yields

Perform data analysis and data mining, drawing on multiple data sources, to set yield improvement strategies

Assist in development and maintenance of high power VCSEL testing strategies and testing systems

Develop metrics and reports for the review of yield and parametric trends

Collaborate with Design, Epi and Fab Engineering as necessary in achieving yield objectives

Measure conformance to product specification and develop requirements traceability matrix

Manage customer deliveries in engineering phase of development

Interface with customers

BSEE or higher

Experience with optical test systems, preferably for high power lasers or LEDs

Experience with electrical, thermal and mechanical systems

Ability to manage and review failure analyses of wafers having yield issues

Proficiency with a statistical data analysis software package, preferably JMP

Proficiency with developing, implementing and troubleshooting test algorithms

Proficiency writing queries for SQL tables

Ability to develop metrics and reports to present product performance trends to the team and management
