Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Candidate will provide independent technical and scientific support to the development, testing and application of technologies for advanced space-based infrared sensor systems suitable for wide-field of view sensing, detection and tracking of hypersonic air vehicles. This position requires co-located, daily, continuous interfacing with the program offices responsible for this technology development. Job duties will include directing the activities of ETG support MTS. Some travel will be required.

Specific Duties:

* Work with customer to identify sensor technologies that will enable, improve or enhance future space based infrared hypersonic target detection and tracking.

* Develop and/or apply analysis and modeling to evaluate the relative merits of alternative technologies particularly for large focal plane arrays, read-out integrated circuits, cryogenic coolers, and optical systems.

* Evaluate alternative sensor system concepts and related technologies in terms of performance, cost, technology readiness/risk, and manufacturability.

* Develop technology roadmaps and development plans, including insertion opportunities.

* Define testing program to validate suitability for the intended application, and to increase technology readiness.

* Analyze data from technology testing to validate and improve models of system performance.

* Propose recommendations on courses of action based on test results.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

* Advanced degree in engineering, physics or equivalent

* Minimum of 6 years of experience in advanced infrared focal plane development, testing and system applications.

* Experience with optical system design.

* Candidate must be highly motivated and able to work independently or as a team leader within a government program office environment.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with program office leadership and customer personnel.

* This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

* Candidates with Top Secret and current SSBI are desired.

* Demonstrated ability to interact and build effective relationships and teams with government customers, other FFRDCs, contractors, and Aerospace personnel

* Experience in government acquisition in the space domain

* Knowledge of all phases of system acquisition development, from requirements definition through implementation, and testing

* Demonstrated ability to work in a highly dynamic environment
