Job Duties & Responsibilities

* Daily utilizes advanced practice knowledge and skill to systematically collect and evaluate health assessment data and to manage a caseload of patients

* Demonstrates effective communication skills

* Serves as an educational resource for nursing staff and other health care professionals

* Applies new knowledge relevant to clinical practice

* Demonstrates current professional, managerial, and/or technical knowledge and skills

Skills & Qualifications

* Master of Science in Nursing

* Current valid license as registered nurse in the state of Texas

* Current NNP-BC certification from the National Certification Corp (NCC) Board of Nurse Examiners

* Full authorization to practice by the Texas Board of Nursing and Eligibility for limited prescriptive authority in Texas

* Two (2) years experience as an NNP; new graduate NNPs with strong NICU background may be considered

* AHA/AAP hospital-based instructor for Neonatal Resuscitation Program preferred

* BCLS certification

* NRP certification

* S.T.A.B.L.E. certification preferred

* Competency of APRN procedures: chest tube placement, endotracheal intubation, lumbar puncture, needle thoracotomy, percutaneous central line placement, peripheral artery puncture and cannulation, removal of thoracotomy tube, suprapubic bladder aspiration, umbilical artery catheterization, umbilical vein catheterization

* Proficiency in PICC and umbilical line placement and intubation required.
