Description

Grays Harbor College seeks engaging and dedicated instructors to teach college-level courses in Pacific County. GHC offers instruction in both Raymond and Ilwaco and the two sites are linked via technology. Instructors could be based at either site. GHC has a strong desire to hire qualified teachers to teach on site, rather than offering the courses listed below on-line.

Courses scheduled for 2018-19 include the following:

Fall:

English Composition (ENGL& 101)

Math in Society (MATH& 107)

American Government (POLS& 202)

Introduction to Psychology (PSYC& 100)

Winter:

English Composition II (ENGL& 102),

Environmental Studies (ENVS& 100),

US History (HIST& 147),

Introduction to Sociology (SOC& 101).

Spring:

Art Appreciation (ART& 100),

General Biology (BIOL& 160) w/ lab

Statistics (MATH& 146),

Public Speaking (SPCH 101)

GHC's college-level courses in Pacific County for 2018-19 are scheduled on either M/W or T/Th mornings, from 8-9:50 am, or from 10-11:50 am. This allows students participating in dual high school/college enrollment to return to their high schools for afternoon activities.

Adjunct faculty salary for the 2018-2019 fiscal year is $ $607.12/ per credit, or $3035.60 for a 5 credit course.

* Develop and deliver organized lesson plans tied to GHC common syllabi and student learning outcomes

* Use high student engagement activities

* Provide consistent and timely feedback

* Provide support to struggling students

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: In general, the WA state requirement for teaching college-level courses is a Master Degree in the specific discipline taught. Exceptions can be made if the degree is in a closely related field or a minimum of 18 graduate credits in that particular field is needed if an exception can be considered. In some instances, significant work experience in a closely related field may be substituted for graduate credit in that field.

Preferred Qualifications: College-level teaching experience is preferred.

GHC accepts applications for adjunct faculty (part-time) positions on an ongoing basis to establish a qualified pool of applicants. The applicant pool is created for future, part-time professor appointments for the individual courses indicated. This announcement will serve as an open and continuous applicant pool. Appointment availability varies from quarter to quarter.

Candidates selected from the pool will be contacted by the Vice President of Instruction should a vacancy arise. Your application will remain in the pool unless notified.
