JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Jr. Software Engineer working as a Software Configuration Management Specialist with a DoD SECRET clearance.

This position will support the CECOM Software Engineering Center contract performing Transition and Post Production Software Sustainment for the Biometrics Automated Toolset-Army (BAT-A) system.

This position will report to the Leidos BAT-A Technical Lead at the BAT-A Software Engineering Environment in APG, MD.

The successful candidate will document requirements and manage the software configuration, performing software builds, software releases and managing software engineering inputs to compile a software build involved in a software release life cycle and resulting in a software product.

Primary Responsibilities

* Develop Configuration Management (CM) Plans and audit software change procedures, software development, software testing, and software documentation to verify compliance with software CM plans and procedures.

* Must be capable of participating in design reviews, configuration audits, and evaluations of software products to ensure proper identification, control, and status accounting of the software baseline for each system.

o Working on code management, audits, baseline identification, and preparation and control of documentation for software projects.

* Will provide support in developing and implementing the hardware and software version control processes, policies, and procedures.

* Coordinate change requests and modification records for documentation by the program

* Participate in the program Configuration Control Board (CCB)

* Maintain CMMI compliance and develop documentation to support

* Ability to perform software development as needed

Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Electronics Engineering or any other Scientific or Technical discipline with 2-4 years of demonstrated experience in software and test engineering

* Ability to work 5 days per week, on site, at Aberdeen Proving Ground

* Possess and maintain a DoD SECRET Clearance

* Ability to write, interpret, and execute software configuration management plans and procedures; perform software builds; and audit software engineering inputs to develop a software baseline

* Will provide support in developing and implementing the hardware and software version control processes, policies, and procedures.

* Coordinate change requests and modification records for documentation by the program

* Ensure that the customer requirements are implemented and review change accounting activity

* Use of Software Configuration Management Tools such as JIRA

Preferred Qualifications

List additional skills and experience that is "nice to have" but not required.

* Experience performing software coding with Visual Basic 6.0, COM, COM+, C/C++, C#, .NET, or XML

* Experience with MS Windows 7, MS SQL Server 2008 R2, MS .NET Framework 4, MS Visual Studio, IBM Rational System Architect, and VMware

* Experience and knowledge of hardware functionality and the relationships with software.

* Security + or similar certification a plus

* Understanding of US Military Biometrics, Sensor and Surveillance Systems or other US Military Experience

* Excellent oral and written communications skills.

* Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment.
