The Twitter Application Process

The Twitter application is one of the most user-friendly applications that we've seen. The entire application is only one page, and Twitter only asks for the most basic personal information. If you are used to lengthy applications that require you to answer dozens of questions and provide every piece of personal information you could possibly imagine, prepare to be pleasantly surprised. If you already have your resume prepared, you should expect to spend no more than 5-10 minutes filling out the application.

For this application guide, we applied for a position as a Software Engineer. From what we can tell, the application process is identical for all positions within the company. However, we weren't able to test the process for *every* job, so it's possible that your experience may be a little bit different from ours depending on the position that you are applying for.

When you begin the Twitter job application, you will be presented with a choice: You can choose to apply with a resume, or with your LinkedIn account. If you don't have a resume prepared, applying with your LinkedIn profile is perfectly acceptable. However, we would recommend applying with your resume and then 'attaching' your LinkedIn profile. This will give you the best of both worlds.

You will also have the opportunity to upload your cover letter. While providing it is optional, you should absolutely take the time to prepare one. With both your cover letter and resume, make sure that you put some effort into customizing them for Twitter and the position that you are applying for. This will give you the opportunity to demonstrate why you want to work for the company, and explain how your previous skills and experiences have directly prepared you for the job that you are applying for.

If you have any other relevant attachments (for example, a design portfolio), you will have the chance to upload that as well. Just make sure that whatever you attach is relevant for the position that you're applying for. A portfolio of logo designs probably won't do much of anything for you if you are applying for a sales position.

Once your attachments are provided, you will need to provide some very basic personal information including your name, address, phone number, email address, web address (if applicable), and work authorization status.

When your application is complete, take a few minutes to review it. Once you're happy with it, go ahead and submit it.
