If you choose to apply through their site instead of StartWire, don't forget to come back and tell us about your application so we can track where and when you applied. You might not realize it, but keeping an accurate record of your application dates is one of the most important factors when it comes to having a successful job search.

The Oracle Application Process

For this application guide, we applied for a position as a Software Developer. Your experience may vary a little bit from ours depending on the position that you are applying for.

Before you can apply for a job at Oracle, you will need to create an account on their hiring site. To create an account you will need to provide your email address, an account password, your name, and the country that you live in.

The Oracle application works a little differently than most. At most companies, you select a job that you are interested in and then apply for the job. At Oracle, you need to create an applicant profile first. Once it's complete, you can instantly apply to any jobs that you like. While the process does feel a little bit backwards (only because it's different), it actually works really well. The result is a very applicant-friendly process that you will appreciate if you are ever interested in more than one position with the company.

Once your account is created, you will need to provide some basic personal information to fill out your candidate profile. This information includes your name, email address, phone number, education, and employment history. Before you begin the application, make sure that you have the correct start and end dates for both your employment history and education. As much as we like to think that our memories are perfect, it can be very easy to get mixed up. Providing accurate dates is very important, as these are likely to be verified before an employment offer is made.

After your personal information is provided, you will have the opportunity to upload your cover letter and resume. Neither of these documents are technically required by their hiring system (meaning that you continue without one), you should treat them as if they are. Getting an interview without a resume and cover letter is likely to be very difficult. Additionally, you should make sure that you customize both documents for both Oracle and the position that you are applying for. This is your chance to demonstrate a legitimate interest in the company, and explain exactly how your previous experiences have prepared you for the position that you are applying for.
