Apply in-store

If you want to work in a Winn-Dixie store, you can also apply in-person. Simply walk into the store that you would like to work at, and ask an employee working at the customer service counter about the application process.

The Winn-Dixie Application Process

The Winn-Dixie job application is one of the longest and most tedious applications that we have ever seen. Between the application and the assessment, you should expect to spend between an hour and an hour and a half filling out the application. Unless you really want to work at Winn-Dixie, your time would probably be better spent filling out applications for another company.

Before you can apply for a Winn-Dixie job, you will need to create an account on their hiring website. Creating an account is simple, and will take a minute of your time. To get your account setup, you will only need to provide a username, password, and answers to a few security questions.

Once your account is created, you will have an opportunity to upload your resume. If you already have a resume prepared, you should definitely take advantage of the opportunity to provide it. Not only can a well-crafted resume help you stand out among the competition, but Winn-Dixie will use it to automatically fill in some of the application fields for you. If you do choose this method, don't forget to doublecheck all of the fields that they fill in for you. While it didn't make any mistakes with my application, no program is fool-proof.

If you choose not to upload your resume at the start of the application, that's ok -- you can fill in all of the application fields manually.

At this point in the application, you will also have the opportunity to upload a cover letter. You should definitely take advantage of this, as a good cover letter is your chance to spell out exactly why you would make the perfect fit for the position you're applying for. If you choose not to provide it, you are missing out on a huge chance to show yourself in the best possible light.

After you upload your cover letter, it's time to start providing your personal information. You will need to provide your name, address, phone number, date of birth, email address, social security number, desired rate of pay, scheduling preferences, education, work experience, and references. We highly recommend preparing all of this information before you start the application.

Assessment

Once you've entered all of your personal information, you will need to take an assessment. You will have an hour to complete the assessment, but most people are able to complete it in 45 minutes or less. Before you start, make sure that you are in a quiet place and that you will have the opportunity to complete the assessment in one sitting.

The assessment is a long series of questions designed to help Winn-Dixie learn more about you, so they can determine if you would make a good fit for their team. To give you an idea of what to expect, here are a few sample questions:

"One of your customers has just said to you, “The service here is terrible.” You should say:"

"One of your customers is irate and has just yelled at you because you were slow in responding to a request he had made. You decide to:"

You should always be honest while taking the assessment, but there may be some times where you aren't quite sure how you should answer a question. In those cases, take a moment to think about why Winn-Dixie has chosen to ask them. What are they trying to learn about you?

Also, you should try to provide as many strong answers as you can. 'Strongly agreeing' or 'strongly disagreeing' with a statement will tell Winn-Dixie much more about you than a neutral or weak answer would.

Background check

During the application process, you will need to consent to a pre-employment background check. Any employment that you receive will be contingent upon passing the background check.

Drug test

By submitting your application to Winn-Dixie, you are consenting to a pre-employment drug test. Any employment offer that you receive is contingent upon passing the drug test.

How to Get Updates on Your Winn-Dixie Application

Winn-Dixie does not provide automatic application updates. If you have applied for a position and would like to know where you stand, you will need to contact the hiring manager at the store where you've applied to work.
