The Old Navy Application Process

Overview
Old Navy job applications are very long. Even though they tell you that it will take about 30 minutes to complete, in our experience, it's much longer than that. We recommend that you allow yourself at least an hour to get through the entire application. The application is comprised of two major parts: personal information and the assessment. Below, we'll go over each section in detail.
Personal information
Before you can start the Old Navy job applications, you will need to create an account. While it's admittedly a little annoying, creating an account does have one major perk: you can save your progress and come back to the application later if you need to. If you have a LinkedIn profile, you can authorize Old Navy to access it. Then they will pull in a lot of your personal information and pre-fill all the fields they can in the application. This can be a huge time-saver, and if you're comfortable with it, it's a great feature. If you aren't comfortable with connecting your LinkedIn account, you can also upload a resume that they will use to fill in portions of your application. If you have neither, you are free to enter in your information manually. The requested information is pretty standard, and includes things like your name, address, phone number, education, and work history. You do have to provide at least one previous job, or it won't let you through. If you have some volunteer experience, that will be suitable. You will also have the opportunity to provide three professional references (who are not related to you). While this is not required, we recommend taking advantage of the opportunity if you have references available. Once you've provided all of your personal information, it's time to move onto the assessment.
Assessment overview
Old Navy requires all applications to take an assessment that helps them determine whether or not you would make a good fit for their organization. The assessment is quite long, and will likely take you at least 40 minutes to complete. The assessment is broken up into three sections, and we'll tell you what to expect from each section below.
Assessment part 1
The first part of the assessment is 9 questions long. Each question describes a scenario, followed by five different actions you could take. Your job is to tell them how likely you would be to take each action. You also need to say which is the best action, and which is the worst. Even though it's technically only 9 questions, it's essentially 63 -- you have to make 7 selections per question. To give you an idea of how it works, here's an example question: "Today is a slow day, and not many customers are coming into the store. How would you handle this situation?"
Assessment part 2
The second section is 21 questions long, and asks you questions about your work, education, and performance. For example, how many times were you late in the last year? Or how many times have you reported someone for stealing or cheating? You'll be able to breeze through this section pretty quickly, but don't move too fast -- answering one question incorrectly can remove you from consideration for the position.
Assessment part 3
This is by far the longest section of the bunch, with 64 questions you have to answer. This section is focused on learning more about how you might behave at work, so they can score your compatibility with the company. For each question you are provided with five possible answers, ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree. To give you an idea of how this works, here are a couple example questions: "I typically look forward to coming to work or school every day." "Time usually seems to slow down when I am at work."

History
Gap opened the first Old Navy store in 1993, under the name of 'Gap Warehouse.' The goal of the venture was to create a less expensive version of Gap, but the company had a hard time disassociating its offerings from the Gap name. The following year, the name was changed to Old Navy, to avoid confusion between the two brands and product offerings. Old Navy was successful very quickly, and by the year 2000 there were over 500 Old Navy locations across the United States. Today, there are over 1,000 Old Navy stores in North America. The largest is their flagship store, located in San Francisco.
