The Advance Auto Parts Job Application Process

At the beginning of the Advance Auto Parts job application process, you will need to select the branch of the company that you would like to work for. You have four choices here: retail, commercial, corporate, or logistics. For the sake of this application guide, we took the retail path. Your experience may vary slightly depending on the branch that you've chosen. Once you select the branch of the company you want to work for, you will need to select the positions that you're interested in. You can apply for up to 10 positions at the same time, which is a great feature that not enough companies provide. After your position is selected, you will need to search for a store near you. To do so, you will need to provide your zip code (or city / state), and the distance you are willing to travel to get to work each day. If you live in an area with many Advance Auto Parts locations, you can apply to all of them at once. Again, this is a huge time-saver, and it definitely makes the company one of the most applicant-friendly employers out there. At this point in the application, you will need to create an account. Account creation is simple, and should only take you a minute. All you need to provide is your email address and an account password.
Application
With your account created, you are finally ready to start the core of the application process. You will need to provide your name, social security number, address, email address, phone number, education, work history, schedule availability, preferred start date, driving history, driver's license number, skills, certifications, awards, references. Make sure that you have all of this information available before you start the application, as it will time out if it takes you more than 45 minutes to complete, and all of your work will be lost.
Assessment
With the core of the application completed, you will be required to take an assessment. The assessment is a series of questions designed to help Advance Auto Parts determine if you would make a good fit within their organization. You will have two hours to complete the assessment, but it should take you 30 minutes or less. If you don't have time to take the assessment, you can close out of it and come back within 48 hours to complete it. It's important to remain focused during the assessment, so if you aren't in a quiet spot or may be frequently interrupted, it might be a good idea to wait until another time. To give you an idea of what to expect from the assessment, here are a few examples: As a customer walks into the store, you notice that he is holding a printout of what appears to be consumer ratings and reviews of different wireless devices. Your customer has identified some items that she printed from the store's website that she would like to purchase at the store. After you read each question, you will be able to watch a short video that demonstrates an interaction between an employee and a customer. You will then be presented with four possible answers, of which you need to select the best and worst choice. Make sure that you consider each option carefully -- in some cases, there isn't one answer that is clearly 'poor.' So choose wisely and take your time.
Background Check
By submitting your application, you are granting Advance Auto Parts permission to perform a pre-employment background check. Any employment offer you receive is contingent upon passing this check.
Drug Test
You must also give Advance Auto Parts permission to conduct a pre-employment drug test. If you don't consent to the drug test, you will be unable to submit your application.
