Apply online

You can also search and apply for jobs directly through Subway's career site. Head down to the 'application process' section below for some tips for filling out your application. If you choose this method, you can still use StartWire to manage your application history.

Paper application

Most Subway restaurants are franchises, and some franchise owners accept paper job applications. If a paper application is your preferred method, just call your local location and ask them if they're accepted. If they are, just go in (dress nicely) and fill one out.

The Subway Application Process

The Subway application process is about as simple as it gets. If you have your employment history, education, and references prepared ahead of time, it shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes to complete. In an age where so many employers make you spend an hour or more taking various tests and assessments, the simplicity of the Subway application is very welcome.

Before you can apply, you just need to enter your address. The website will then show all of the locations near you, and then you'll be able to select the location where you wish to work. From that page, you just need to select the job you'd like to apply for.

You can only apply to one position at one location at a time, but given the simplicity of the application process, this really isn't a big deal at all.

The entire application is really straightforward. Just provide your personal information, education, employment history, and references, and you'll be finished. It's as simple as that.

How to Get Updates on Your Subway Application

Unfortunately, Subway does not provide automatic updates on job applications at this time. If you would like to check on the status of your application or learn if you're still being considered for a position you applied for, your best bet is to contact the hiring manager at the store you've applied to.

History

Subway got its start when the first store (named "Pete's Super Submarines" at the time) was opened in 1965. Fred DeLuca borrowed money from a friend to open the submarine sandwich shop in Bridgeport, CT. The first store was a success, and the following year they decided to form a company (Doctor's Associates, Inc.) that would oversee the expansion of the restaurant as it expanded.

In 1968 DeLuca changed the name of the shop to Subway, and it has continued to grow ever since. Today, there are more than 37,000 Subway locations across the world. There is at least one Subway in every state, and the company has expanded to 98 countries.

In terms of locations, Subway is the largest restaurant chain the world, though it trails McDonald's in terms of revenue.
